Janigora comes under South Sarjamda village, situated under South Sarjamda Panchayat of Golmuri Jugsalai Block, East Singhbhum district Jharkhand. The village is situated in a remote area and barely any transportation is possible. The village has a dilapidated condition and doesn’t even fulfil the basic needs of an individual. If you have your personal vehicle you can make it through as the transportation connectivity is very poor because of the roads.

Gaurav Munda lives with his family in Janigora. His father Darasar Munda is a farmer and his mother Laxmi Munda is a housewife. He has an elder brother Rohit Munda who studies in class 12th. Gaurav loves her mother a lot and moreover whatever she cooks. He eats a lot whenever she cooks rice and palak. His mother adores him little more than elder son as he is a very shy and less talkative kid. He has a great respect and love for his father but like other kids a little fear also. Whenever his father is home after work he tries to help him by taking all his vegetables and offering him a glass of water.

As agriculture is the main occupation of Janigora, his father is a farmer and has a small piece of land for farming. He grows few vegetables and sell them for their living as well as it is used for home too. He has to go a long way on his feet carrying his vegetables on his head to sell his vegetables as the transportation is zero level. His mother looks after the household works, bring dry woods from forests for cooking and looks after both her sons. Inspite of poor electricity both the kids give time to studies.

Gaurav Munda is a very shy and compose boy who enjoys his idleness and doesn’t talk much to people whereas his elder brother is very mischievous and tries all possible ways to irritate him. Gaurav likes to do fishing as he gets plenty of alone time to spend near ponds. Whenever he’s free he goes for fishing for an hour or more. He has a lot of inclination towards serving his country.

Gaurav was enrolled in class 8 th in MS Janigora School. When he joined the school he hesitated to speak as he was a shy boy and also he could merely speak only a few words of English. Boys used to tease him and make fun of him. Whenever teachers asked some questions or said to read the book he didn’t answered and read the books in a very low voice. In class he had problem of getting comfortable with his classmates because of his shy nature.

Teachers noticed him and put him under ALIG’s LEP Program. They took the initiative to push him so that he can participate in Library reading, group discussions, debates etc. In a very short period of time, he was recognised by the teachers. He started to interact with teachers and his classmates as well. Now he clears all his queries by asking a lot of questions in class. He has got a good fluency in reading English. Recently ALIG’s team conducted an English Elocution Competition for primary and middle school students. A teacher wanted him to participate in elocution but due to his shy nature again he took his feet back. Interesting thing was that he took his friends name for participating in elocution. Again our teacher has to push Gaurav to participate and as a result he delivered his speech very confidently and clearly in front of so many people. Now Gaurav Munda is a speaker in his school assembly. He is in a library group as well. His future goal is to go in defence services and for that he is doing his best. He can always be seen with some competitive exam books. The way he spends his time with books, he can definitely achieve his goals. Gaurav has become a more of a humorous boy than a shy boy. He cheers everyone in class and makes everyone happy.

ALIG’s LEP helps children to read, write and speak in English as English is our global language and is the base language of all the subjects. If we say social media, banking or online studies during horrifying Corona kaal English is used. Our team helps the student by engaging them in several activities like library, newspaper reading, elocution, debates and etc to make a better world with bright students.
